Description
The SFP28 (25Gb/s on a single lane) shares the same form factor (MSA) as the SFP and SFP+. it has been evolved from the QSFP28, which uses 4 lanes. SFP28 is also used when breaking out a QSFP28 into 4 x 25Gb/s individual connections.
25G Modules
The 25G optical transceivers have the same size shell as SFP+ transceivers which gives 2.5 times increase in speed, at the same time occupying the same space on equipment front panels. The SFP28 optical module power consumption levels are the same as predecessor 10G SFP+ modules. These transceivers are backwards compatible with 10G SFP+ ports. SFP28 is available with both fiber and copper connections.
